National Review Capital Matters Conference

That the ideas of the left represent a threat to growth, prosperity, and innovation is hardly a secret. From its tax plans to overbearing regulation, this administration has demonstrated nothing has changed in that respect. And we all pay the price. What has changed in recent years has been the embrace of ESG and stakeholder capitalism by large sections of the investment and corporate worlds, with consequences that undermine the notions of investment return and shareholder primacy which have delivered so much to America for so long. Making matters worse, we are also now seeing sections of the right embracing statist solutions that, like those advanced by the left, represent a profound threat to the enterprise culture that is such an important part of the American idea. Navigating through these challenges old and new will take work and so in July 2020, National Review Institute and National Review launched National Review Capital Matters, a new project to explain, defend, and celebrate capitalism. In that spirit, Capital Matters is hosting a conference called
“Innovation, Growth—And Their Newer Enemies.”
