National Review Institute is holding a student essay contest to promote thought and discussion surrounding this important work.
The winning essay will be published on NationalReview.com and much more!
Contest Details
ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open to students who are currently enrolled in their freshman or sophomore year of college.
WORD LENGTH
Students must submit an essay between 1,500 and 2,000 words on the topic below.

DEADLINE
The essay contest is open now. Submissions must be received by 11:59PM ET on July 31, 2021 and should be sent to buckleyessay@nrinstitute.org.

TOPIC
Read William F. Buckley Jr.’s first book, God and Man at Yale. In 1,500 to 2,000 words, discuss how the underlying philosophical issues addressed in the book apply to higher education today. Please note, this is not meant to be a critique of your school, but rather a discussion of higher education at large.

PRIZES
The first-place winner’s essay will be published on NationalReview.com. The winner will also feature in a NRI forum with NR writers, be interviewed on an official NR podcast, and receive fun swag.
