ABOUT THE EVENT

65 years after William F. Buckley Jr. founded National Review magazine, our movement continues to fight against the deluded lure of socialism and aggrandizement of the state. The Virtual Ideas Summit will reflect on the historical significance of this fight, along with notable successes and cautionary failures, and will highlight why we are unwavering in our commitment to promote limited government and preserve the ideals of our Republic.

Since 1993, the Institute has hosted several major conferences, where leading policy makers and scholars have gathered for conversation and debate. Biennially, NRI hosts an Ideas Summit in a two-day marquee gathering in Washington, D.C., convening conservative leaders and NRI supporters to discuss the pressing issues of the day and critically assess our movement. Due to COVID-19 restrictions in D.C., we are hosting a two-part Ideas Summit series in 2021—a virtual conference and a then hybrid event in the late spring.

Part I of our Summit will focus on the fight against progressivism—a battle National Review has been waging since its inception.
