Lazy Obamacare Reporting at Politico

Politico’s Jennifer Haberkorn’s May 26th article, Dems support Medicare brochure, article leaves out some key details about the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) produced four-page brochure. For starters she leaves out the fact that taxpayers are fooring the $18 million bill for producing and mailing the propaganda.

But more importantly she does not even try to identify or fact check any of the claims in the brochure. For example, the White House directed brochure says Obamacare will “provide you and your family greater savings and increased quality health care.” But the CMS’s own report on Obamacare found the exact opposite noting that the sever Medicare cuts used to pay for Obamacare would make 15% of all Medicare providers unprofitable, thus “jeopardizing access to care for beneficiaries.”

Other highlights from the CMS report include:

1) 18 million Americans will pay $33 billion in penalties for failing to comply with Obamacare’s individual mandate and still receive no health care; 2) U.S. employers will pay $87 billion in employer mandate penalties; 3) 14 million Americans will lose their current employer-based health coverage; 4) 7.4 million seniors will lose their current Medicare Advantage benefits.
